Breaks in Schedule

How to add lunch breaks, technical pauses and breaks after appointments

Why are breaks needed?

Breaks help organize your workday properly, avoid fatigue, and ensure quality service for each client.

Why it's important:

  • Time for rest and recovery between clients
  • Workspace and tools preparation
  • Lunch without rush and stress
  • Preventing schedule overlaps

Types of Breaks

Different break types for different needs

In ZmanUp you can create breaks in two ways: add manually to calendar or set up permanent break after each appointment.

Lunch Break

Full lunch break, added manually to calendar

Example: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM daily

Break After Appointment

Automatic pause after each appointment for preparation

Example: 10 minutes after each client

Technical Break

Time for tool preparation, cleaning, added manually

Example: 15 minutes for complex procedure preparation

How to Add Break Manually

Two ways to add break to calendar

Breaks can be added manually to calendar when you need - for lunch, technical needs or personal time.

Adding methods:

Via '+' button

Click '+' in calendar, select 'Break' type and specify time

Click on time (Grid view)

If using Grid view - click on desired time, menu appears, select 'Break'

Break settings:

  • Date: choose day for break
  • Start Time: when break starts
  • Duration: how long the break will take (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour)
  • Note: optional - add description (e.g., 'Lunch' or 'Preparation')
💡 Tip: Add lunch breaks in advance so clients cannot book this time through online booking.
How to Add Break Manually

Permanent Break After Appointment

Setting up automatic break after each appointment

In ZmanUp you can set up permanent break that will be automatically added after each appointment. This is convenient for preparing for next client.

How it works:

Where to set up

Calendar Settings → Break after appointment → Specify duration

What happens

After each appointment, specified time is automatically added (e.g., 10 minutes)

Clients cannot book

This time will be blocked in online booking

Where to setup:Calendar → Settings → Break after appointment
After setup, each new appointment will automatically have break of needed duration!

Individual Break for Appointment

Adding break to specific appointment

When creating or editing any appointment, you can add individual break after this appointment.

How to add:

  1. Open appointment (creating new or editing existing)
  2. Find 'Break after appointment' field
  3. Specify break duration (e.g., 15 minutes)
  4. Save appointment

When it's useful:

  • Complex procedure - need more preparation time
  • Last client of day - can skip break
  • Urgent appointment - need shorter break
ℹ️ Individual break overrides permanent break for this specific appointment.

Editing and Deleting

How to modify or remove break

Editing break:

Manually added breaks can be changed at any time.

  1. Click on break in calendar
  2. Select 'Edit' from menu
  3. Change time or duration and save

Deleting break:

If break is no longer needed, it can be deleted.

  1. Click on break in calendar
  2. Select 'Delete' and confirm
ℹ️ Permanent break after appointment is edited in Calendar Settings, individual break - in appointment itself.

Breaks in Calendar

How breaks are displayed

All breaks appear in calendar as separate blocks with special formatting.

Visual features:

  • Breaks highlighted in color (usually yellow or gray)
  • Permanent breaks after appointments visible right after each appointment
  • Manually added breaks can be edited by clicking
  • Cannot create appointment on breaks - time is blocked
💡 Tip: Permanent break after appointment saves time - no need to add it manually every time!

Usage Recommendations

Add Lunch Manually

Better to add lunch break manually to calendar at desired time. This way you control exactly when lunch will be.

Use Permanent Break

Set up permanent break after appointment (5-10 minutes) in Calendar Settings. This is time for preparation, cleaning and rest between clients.

Individual Breaks for Special Cases

For complex procedures, add individual break directly in appointment - for example, 20 minutes instead of standard 10.

Important to remember:

Combine permanent and individual breaks for maximum efficiency. Permanent break - for all appointments, individual - when you need more or less time!
